Newport Historical SocietyThe Newport Historical Society preserves the history of all of Newport County. The Historical Society is a museum and a renowned research facility used by patrons from around the corner and from around the world. In addition to its headquarters building, the Society owns or manages significant historical properties: the Wanton-Lyman-Hazard House (1696), the Great Friends Meeting House (1699), the Seventh Day Baptist Meeting House (1730), Colony House (1739) and the Brick Market (1762). The Society’s collections of library materials, objects, paintings, prints and maps are nationally significant. They enable the organization to tell the varied and fascinating history of Newport, from its early days as a leading commercial seaport city to the present as a destination for cultural and heritage tourism.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Newport CountyThe Boys & Girls Clubs of Newport County’s mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. A Boys & Girls Club provides: a safe place to learn and grow; ongoing relationships with caring, adult professionals; life-enhancing programs and character development experiences; hope and opportunity. The Boys & Girls Club offers after-school programs at three locations in Newport and Middletown, including one in public housing, during the school year and a summer day camp, Camp Grosvenor, in Saunderstown. Over 1,400 children, ages 5 – 18 are members of the Club.
